Barry Hearn OBE

President, Matchroom Sport

Barry Hearn OBE formed Matchroom Sport in 1982, turning his abilities to developing a stable of top snooker players and ultimately produce televised events. A long-term boxing fan, Barry moved into fight promotion in the late 1980s and has promoted hundreds of British, European and World title fights for television over the years.

Through the 1990’s Hearn turned a number of niche sports into major TV attractions with a succession of innovative ideas. Into the second decade of the 21st century, he has developed Matchroom Sport into one of the world’s leading independent suppliers of quality sports programming.

In late 2020, he was honoured with an OBE for services to sport in the New Year’s Honours List. Barry announced he would step aside after almost 40 years to become President of the Matchroom Group in an advisory role, dealing primarily with event strategy and global development in April 2021.

Kate Willard OBE

Thames Estuary Envoy, Thames Estuary Growth Board

Kate is the Thames Estuary Envoy and chairs the Thames Estuary Growth Board. In addition, she is senior advisor to Stobart Group and an independent consultant working on a diverse portfolio of infrastructure and growth projects. With a background in culture and creativity, Kate has lived and worked in Hungary, France and Belgium, working as an independent regeneration expert with the European Commission on major transnational projects in employment, social cohesion and regional development.

Whilst living and working in Hungary, Kate also established the first UK-Hungarian cultural partnership trust, Brouhaha Magyarország and was CEO of the UK’s first rural regeneration company (Rural Regeneration Cumbria).

Kate is a Churchill Fellow and Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts (FRSA).

Scott Russell

Founder, Paddy & Scott’s Coffee

Essex born and bred, Scott Russell is the Founder of UK coffee brand Paddy & Scott’s, a former EADT East Anglian Business Person of the Year and the driving force in making Paddy & Scott’s one of the UK’s top independent coffee brands. 

In 2017 Scott was named by Grant Thornton as one of the country’s top 100 influential business leaders joining the illustrious list of “Faces of a Vibrant Economy”.  He has been awarded an honorary fellowship from the University of Suffolk for business and entrepreneurialism.  Scott also supports various sustainability and education projects in Africa. 

Passionate, fast talking and a natural storyteller, Scott presents and inspires audiences around the world.

Jane Winfield

Commercial Property Partner, Tees Law

Jane is a Commercial Property Partner at Tees and boasts a wealth of experience in acquisitions and disposals, leases, asset management, investment and property finance with her niche area being landlord and tenant.

Jane qualified as a Solicitor in 1990 and went on to teach law at various colleges across Essex for three years. She joined Wortley Byers in 1997, where she became a Partner in the Commercial Property team in 2003, continuing with Tees following the merger in 2019.

Peter Gudde

Energy Projects Manager, Greater South East Energy Hub

Peter works for the Greater South East Energy Hub, providing support to the public sector around clean growth and local energy. 

Before joining the Energy Hub, Peter worked in local government leading the Sustainable Energy agenda. 

Peter has designed and managed local authority energy programmes for over 20 years including energy efficiency, renewable energy and public sector energy services. 

In that time, Peter has been involved in developing local authority-based Climate Strategy and delivery and was a founder member of the Suffolk Climate Change Partnership in 2006. 

He is also researching the energy transition at the University of Suffolk.
